The 5th International Conference of Deaf Muslims is a sacred and strategic gathering that brings together Deaf leaders, educators, linguists, and community organizers from across the world. Hosted in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, this year’s conference seeks to build consensus and action around the creation of a unified Islamic sign language dictionary, to be used especially in the Holy Sites. A Global Deaf Gathering for Unity, Access & Empowerment.
We especially invite Deaf educators, sign language experts, and community leaders who are actively working within their local Deaf Muslim organizations or communities. Priority will be given to Deaf presenters who are affiliated with a local, national, or regional Deaf organization, whose work demonstrates community impact—such as Islamic education, access to worship, interpreting, or training—and who can provide a letter of endorsement or proof of membership from a Deaf-led organization in their country. Preference will also be given to those who speak on behalf of their community rather than solely about personal projects. This approach ensures that all presenters represent collective efforts and community-driven experiences, aligning with our goal of global collaboration rooted in local action.
Attending our conference offers a unique opportunity to represent your local community on an international stage, help shape a unified Islamic sign language for the Holy Sites, collaborate with Deaf Muslims and leaders from around the world, contribute to a legacy of inclusive Islamic practice, and perform Umrah and visit Madinah with fully accessible arrangements.
